Program History

The Michigan Men’s Gymnastics Team represents the University of Michigan and competes in the Big Ten Conference. The Wolverines have won six NCAA championships, 19 Big Ten championships, and  have been home to countless Senior National, World, and Olympic Team Members. The Wolverines captured their fifth and sixth NCAA Team Titles in back-to-back fashion during the 2013 and 2014 season.

More recently, Michigan has successfully three-peated the Big Ten Tournament Conference Title in 2021, 2022, and 2023. This is the first time the program has been this dominant in the conference since the 1960s. Under the helm of Head Coach Yuan Xiao, the Wolverines success has found its footing both on the domestic and international stages. Two student-athletes represented the United States of America in Antwerp, Belgium, at the 2023 World Championships. While both athletes qualified to a pair of event finals, one was able to secure the bronze medal in the All-Around, designating him the third best gymnast in the world. The United States finished third as a team, their best finish  since 2014.
