Michigan Cheer Head Assistant Coach Elisabeth Tyzo-Depaulis

ELISIABETH TYZO-DEPAULIS

Title: Head Assistant Coach

Elisabeth Tyzo-DePaulis is in her 10th year as an assistant coach for the University of Michigan cheer team. She was part of the coaching staff that helped guide U-M to back-to-back National Cheerleaders Association national championships in 2013 and 2014. Included among her other coaching achievements are several top-five finishes at NCA Nationals.

Tyzo-DePaulis is American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors (AACCA) safety and CPR/First Aid certified, as well as credentialed through United States All Star Federation (USASF). She is a Michigan High School Athletic Association safety judge and has judged regional and state competitions throughout Michigan.

Before she began coaching, Tyzo-DePaulis attended U-M and was a part of the cheer team from 2002-2005. In 2004, she helped her team to a sixth-place finish at nationals. She earned her undergraduate degree and M.A. in education from Michigan. She is a high school English teacher in Westland and lives in South Lyon with her husband Dan.


Michigan Cheer Assistant Coach Grant Peterson

GRANT PETERSON

Title: Assistant Coach

Grant Peterson is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Michigan cheer team. In both of his first two seasons assisting head coach Pam St. John, the Wolverines captured the National Cheerleaders Association national championship in their division, going back-to-back in 2013 and 2014.

Peterson graduated from U-M in 2012 with a degree in General Studies focusing on financial math and actuarial science. He cheered for two years at Michigan (2010-12), including events like the 2011 Gator Bowl, 2012 Sugar Bowl, "Under the Lights I" vs. Notre Dame and the Big Chill. His previous cheer experience includes three years at North Dakota State (2004-07). Peterson originally hails from Fargo, N.D., and currently resides in Ann Arbor. He works for Total Home Lending in Livonia, Mich., as a residential loan officer. When he is not working and coaching, he enjoys rock climbing, traveling and hunting.
